sizing for Scarpa Charmoz and Mont Blanc Pro

Just got both and felt the Charmoz were a bit shorter and narrower compared to the Mont Blancs. My toes felt like they were going to bash in the front.
Is it just me or someone else feels the same?

Apples to oranges.  Those boots are each for a different terrain.  The charmoz is designed as a summer conditions alpine climbing boot and the mount Blanc pro is designed as a mountaineering boot for snow and glacier. Hence the price difference and the fit difference. Neither is a hiking boot.

Maureen, maybe I wasn't clear.  I know both boots are for different applications, that's why bought them both and will be using them for the exact purposes that you've mentioned.

I tried out the Mont Blancs and they fit fine and purchased the Charmoz thinking the sizing would be the same, appears not.  Just wandering if anyone else has had this experience.

Don't your climbing shoes fit just like those charmoz? They're supposed to feel slimmer and more accurate. The space in the toe box of the pro gtx is for when your feet swell a little and for warmth above 15 to 16k.  The edging capability is not the point in that design. I like that scarpa uses a different last for each boot.  The snugness you mention is intentionally built into the design on the charmoz. So yes, it's noticeable in a good and expected way.

  1. Ok.  I tried a half size larger.  Do you know why both sizes have the same foot bed sizes. ? was trying a 42.5 and the insole said 42.  Where does the extra length come from?

In the Italian boot making and sizing you're going to see a change between sizes in the increments of approximately 2/16 in.  Unlike US sizing which is greater. The slight changes in 1/2size are articulated on the last at the toe rand.

It might be that increasing the size will not give you the fit you are looking for, due to the design of that boot, which is slim low volume for climbing dexterity.  The Asolo version has a greater volume and a wider toe box, one alternate.

For Mont Blancs, I add one full size to street shoe

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
