Howdy all. Looking for some beta/advice. Will be flying in to Vancouver to spend a few weeks in Squamish. Will be living out of backpack and plan to camp at the Chief campground.
What I'm just realizing now is that we will be arriving on a Friday afternoon, which certainly isnt ideal. Im concerned that the campground will be full for the weekend. Thoughts? Suggestions? Other places we could go to camp? I really dont want to rent a car.....
We enjoyed Paradise Valley Campground a few years ago: http://paradisevalleycampground.net/ However, you definitely will require a car because of the distance from town. It could get you through a few days until you can get into the Chief.
The Chief campground always seems full but if you're friendly I bet you can squeeze a tent in there somewhere. If that doesn't work you can probably find room at the Mamquam River spot that's described in the route notes. Mamquam and the Brennan Community Center (Logger Lane campground) aren't very good for access to the Chief (on foot, nothing is too far by car) but they are walking distance to the Smoke Bluffs and it's a long walk but it is walkable to Nesters for groceries.
