Climbers/climbing in/nearish Detroit?

I’m a UT climber moving to Detroit for 3-4 months for work. Wondering if there are any climbers in Detroit who would be willing to meet up and do some outdoor climbing, and whether there are any good climbing areas within driving distance from the city.

Thanks!

Hey Sam. Most climbing in MI is done at the two gyms: Planet Rock in Ann Arbor and Planet Rock in Madison Heights. Both are really nice gyms.
We've got one little gem about an hour drive from Detroit (Grand Ledge, exclusively TR or bouldering). SOrry to say most outdoor climbing usually requires some driving (6-8 hours): Upper peninsula, WI, IL, KY, WV, PA, NY, Canada, etc...

I consider myself willing to meet up and climb. Feel free to reach out when you get here and want to go.

Excellent. I’d be willing to make a trip at some point while I’m there, if you’re up for it. I’ll pm you my info when I’m on my way out (next couple weeks).

Hey Sam,

Though it isn't in Detroit (or Michigan), there is climbing in various spots around Ohio. Mad River Gorge (sport/ trad/ bouldering) is in Springfield (take I-75 south from Detroit until you get to I-70 near Dayton... go towards Columbus (East) and you'll see Springfield. Probably about a three and a half hour drive from Detroit). Routes are on the shorter end, but rock is solid and fun. We are having a big event at the end of September if you want to come check it out. Here is a link for more information:
