Easy Sport/Trad Routes in the Boulder Area

Hello! Coming in from California next week with some folks that do not climb but would like to try. I am looking for easy sport climbing, 5.8 and under that is approachable for someone who doesn't climb. Doesn't necessarily have to have access to the top to hang a top rope but that wouldn't be a bad option either. Easy trad routes would also be awesome too! Looking for mostly in the Boulder area if possible.

Thank you!

Good beginner places I have taken people to have been Gregory Canyon Amphitheater area, and North Table. Both areas allow for setting up top ropes, very easy trad climbing, and north table offers more easy sport climbing.

Also check out the Riviera in the Bihedral area for more easy sport and trad routes. It’s popular and hot in the summer, but it has a few easier climbs, though they might not be the best for people super new to climbing.

Hey Matt, thanks a ton! I really appreciate it!

Cascade Crag and the Watermark in Boulder Canyon have some easy sport routes, and are shady, though the approach involves a Tyrolean traverse.

On a cool and/or cloudy day, or in the evening, the Wind Tower in Eldo has some great easy trad lines.  So does the Whales Tale in Eldorado Canyon (e.g. Clementine, West Crack), but the approach scramble might ask a lot of a non-climber

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
