Camping in Castle Valley???

I am heading to Moab for Memorial day like every other person from Colorado. I plan on doing a little canyoning in Castle Valley at Oak Creek and am concerned I won't be able to find a free campsite between the Colorado border and the Castle valley. I will be rolling in late Friday night. Any suggestions? Any free BLM land we can sleep for just a few hours?? Thanks.

I hear you. My best suggestion is to come up Castlelton Rd., pass the full(?) Castle Rock climbers campground, and take left (FS207) up into Manti La Sal National Forest. Once you get about as far the Fisher Point Overlook, you are mostly past the private property parcels, and there are side roads and turnouts everywhere. Bonus elevation increase, with cooler air. The roads can be confusing up there, and I use the Gaia app.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
