Petzl Spirit Express quickdraws 6 pack

If you’re like me, you’re thinking how come one of the most praised quickdraws do not have a 6 pack like many other quickdraws including the Petzl djinn. People want them but they are pricey so why not allow people to buy in bulk and get a discount especially when you need a bunch anyway. This price point could turn people to other rival companies’ quickdraws. I email them and their response was that, “sales team in France has decided to go with but may be an option in the future.”

Anyone have a logical reason you wouldn’t offer a bundle of these? Just curious to hear people’s opinion.

Not sure why they don't have 6-packs, but here's a great price on them.

Because funds from purchases of spirit QDs are the exclusive funding source for all petzl athlete trips

Thanks man I appreciate the help. Do you go with mostly 12s and a few 17s or some other combination? I currently have none so I’m trying to figure out combination that would be good for sport climbing. I’m thinking I’ll get 12 total.

I actually don't care for the Spirit- the DMM Alpha Sport is my preferred draw, and I don't think they come in 6 packs, either. Pricey, too, but imho, worth it.

I’ve heard good things about them too because of that indentation.

DMM Alpha Sport do come in packs, and they are indeed nicer.

Some people I know only climb with the 17s, but I think having a mix is nice to reduce the chance of the biner loading strangely over an edge. Maybe go 8-12cm and 4-17cm or 50/50. Plus, you can always buy different length dogbones if you want to customize based on the route.

I don’t have any direct experience with the DMM Sports, but they make awesome products in general. Two points to note is that those draws are slightly heavier and more expensive than the Spirits.

Because you are sport climbing, Chances are good that your draws will be hung when you are really trying the route.

The Dmm alpha draws do not have an I-Beam at the rope basket. They last significantly longer than spirits. Negating the increased up front cost.  2 dollars more for 30% more metal where it matters.

I went to all edelrid bullet proofs. The addtional weight is negligible. Rope wear is basically non-existent and more than worth the nominal increase of grams. They also have amazing clipping action.

Petzl or DMM are both top notch carabiners. You can't go wrong with either one. I like the clipping action of BD Livewires, and the hump on the spine make it super easy for me to clip.

My original sport draws were all Spirits, 10 12mm and 6 17mm. They were significantly heavier than the current models. All mine were anodized, and the slings had multi-colored stitching. These aren't mine, but are similar.
