Has recently become a problem for me when wearing my otherwise super comfortable Solutions. Not sure why, think it might be the pointy toebox and/or improper grooming. My toes do fold over one another, but it was not painful until now. It hurts to weight my toes with the shoes on and I drew a little blood last time when I tried to wear them for a few routes. I’d like to get back in them but am not interested in being in pain while I climb. Has anyone experienced this before and found a solution? I’ve obviously tried filing and trimming them, but they still feel sharp and hurt to apply full bodyweight.

I've had that problem. Usually filing and trimming takes care of it in shoes that were otherwise comfortable before. In the last several years my feet "grew" a half a size and I've had to make some shoe changes as a result. I've just had to stop wearing the shoes where I couldn't make it work anymore
Not really a solution, but that's what happened to me

Trim them.......rounded (but not so far back as to get ingrown) the day before you climb. As needed.... ;)
I do this for climbing shoes, or riding boots. Keeps the nailbeds from getting sore too.

Ah, that’s possible. I also had them resoled recently, so that could have affected the fit. Did you just use toenail clippers?

Fyi, when you turn 50 your toenails grow faster than your hair does......
And it's harder to reach them..... ;)

Haha, I thought of that. Might give it a go if the clippers don’t do the trick.

It was seriously just out of the blue, one day the nails started digging and no amount of trimming was gonna do it. No fatty tissue left on the inside of my big toes. And ya know what they say about guys with big toes, right?!

Try a fingernail file and get rid of all sharp points or edges that hit adjacent toes. Works better than a nail clipper for me.

Tape the toe with the nail that’s digging into the other one. Should solve the problem if trimming doesn’t.

Today is a banner day on MP, first it was can I rack my gear with toy carabiners, and now it's what do I do if my toenails are too long?

Ask online first, before doing any investigation, or even thinking, at all, for the most mudane and simplistic of problems. Seems to be the new normal.
