XL Helmets

I have a very large head. I have to special order hats because my hat size is about an 8.5. This means if you say you have a BD half dome or petzl ecrin roc and a large head then latter part of the statement is false. I can't even get those two to fit on my head. I have done some research the Grivel salamander XL is discontinued, so I am looking for anything that is close.

Hey, I have the mammut with the lil sun visor, maybe- El cap?- and a pretty big albeit empty head. Fits good even in winter with a mid weight beanie. Maybe check one out??

Grivvel makes an ice helmet, think it is called the salamander? Designed to fit with a beanie on, fits our big fat head just fine, with room to spare.

Same issue. Not sure about US hat sizes, but I usually wear a 64 European hat/helmet. Ecrin Roc and Half Dome just sit on top of my watermelon 

I've found two helmets that worked. Head shape will also play a role for ideal fit. The best I've found for both fit and my head shape was Mammut Rock Rider. Very accommodating size wise. Also picked up a Black Diamond Vector. Does not fit my shape as perfectly as the Mammut (sits a bit higher), but more than enough space for a big head. Actually a bit more space than my head needs. I don't wear it at its biggest setting. Could probably fit a beanie in there.

But both fit adequately enough to offer top and side protection.

They don't make the salamander in that size anymore. I've tried the vector and it get on my head but it's too tight. I'm more like 64-65 in the Euro sizes.

I have a hard time with hats and helmets being too small and my Salewa Vayu fits me well, with some room to spare.

The BD Vector works for me as I'm only 63cm.
