Looking for recommendations for taking dogs to RRG. I know certain areas are prohibit dogs from entering and was interested if anyone knew of a boarding or doggy daycare in the area.

Hi all, I am looking for some info about a similar situation. I have a cat and would like to bring her with for a month or so from mid-May to mid-June 2018. Any thoughts about boarding at RRG would be greatly appreciated ... Better yet, if much less likely, info on finding a very cheap one-room rental option would be amazing. Thanks!

Miguel's has rooms for rent, dunno the exact cost.  Land of the Arches may still have the tiny cubicle rooms in the hanger,  less expensive but IDK about keeping a cat there,  dogs are not allowed there.

If you are willing to crate your dog, this place is in easy walking distance of Muir Valley:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/17926974

Since you can walk to Muir, you won't pay parking fees

We stayed there with our dog last year, and it was nice enough. Especially since we aren't into the Miguel's scene

edit: yeah I know crating is controversial, even if you’re checking on em every few hours. Your concerns are heard, considered, and dismissed

Don't crate your dog for hours at a time.

If you train your dog properly and aren’t gone for extended periods of time there is nothing wrong with crating your dog... by all means people abuse it, but it doesn’t mean you are abusing your dog.if you do it correctly

What is an "extended period"? I think if you're going out climbing for the day, say 4 to 8 hours, that is cruel to your dog.

I wouldn’t consider 4 hours cruel, anymore more than that would be unfair to the dog. Again, if you train a dog properly, a crate can be an enjoyable “safe space” for the dog to call its own. I know plenty of dogs who enjoy their crates and even hang out in them (doors open) throughout the day. If you haven’t done research on proper crate training I would recommend it

Also, unless you have suggestions for my intended question in the OP, this is not the place for a discussion over crate training ethics.

Rover.com is a good service to check out. It like AirBnB for dog sitters. We have used it a lot so our dog isn't stuck in some dingy kennel and there are some in the area which would watch the pup during the day while you're out.

Hi, I wanted to ask the question again about dog sitters in the RRG area?  I'd like to go to Muir Valley next time I'm there and I know they don't allow dogs.
