Camping near Sonora/Goldwall

Hey, is there anywhere good to camp near goldwall/Sonora? I've always just done day trips but I want to spend a couple days there. I'm just looking for somewhere I can throw down my sleeping bag for the night for free

Hi Peter.  You may know this, but likely others don't.  It's illegal to camp or spend the night on the Bureau of Reclamation land in the Table Mountain area (for example, adjacent to the outhouse and parking for the Grotto, Fissures, etc).  Climbers camping in that general area definitely damages our relationship with the land manager.The Gold Wall is private property, and camping there (as well as fires and yelling/loud noises from climbers) will definitely jeopardize our tenuous access there.   There is a Walmart in Sonora for those who can sleep in their vehicles. There is Forest Service land with both fee and free camping higher up 108, and the Bureau operates fee camping areas around New Melones. Enjoy your climbing

Glory Hole Recreation Area out on a peninsula in New Melones Lake sounds like your best bet for camping near the Goldwall:

Most of the other campgrounds in the area are rec v parks.

Bring a license, rod and tackle. You can catch some nice fish in New Malone.
