There's the obvious R1 and BD coefficient. Who else makes hoodies with balaclava hoods?

Pretty much every company is right. Rab and OR make my favorite ones

If you don't really want to buy a new shell just to get the hood, I have a stand-alone balaclava type hood. Something like 200 weight fleece. Never worn, Available for cheap.

I have the arcteryx konseal. The face mask part is only good when you’re not wearing glasses or goggles, because it’ll fog those right up. That said, it does fit quite nicely when that’s not a concern. It is on the lighter end, though.

Arc'teryx makes the Fortrez Hoody, which has a sort of built-in buff/facemask in the hood.  Bought it, tried it out, not a huge fan.  I've got a super lightly used XL one I'll sell ya...

I actually really like the built in buff on my arcteryx fleece, you don't even know it is there unless you are using it but when you underestimate the weather and happen to be wearing that fleece, it's pretty nice. Only downside is you have to take off your helmet if you want to start using the buff.

Outdoor Research makes the transition hoodie. You can get a good discount with an AAC membership.

Ya, the buff part is nice, but the fleece itself is a lot shorter than an R1, and doesn’t stay tucked in under a harness.  That’s my experience at least...

Which year of the Fortrez do you have?

If it's pre-2016, it will be shorter than the R1, but 2016+ should be as long or perhaps even longer than the R1.

Here is some measurements from Arc'teryx Q&A website, comparing pre-2016 and 2016+ for size Medium:

----------------

Pre 2016 model

Medium
Chest: 111 cm
Waist: 105 cm
Front Length: 66.3 cm
Back Length: 72 cm
Sleeve Length: 87.8 cm

2016 and 2017 model

Medium
Chest: 108.6 cm
Waist: 101.6 cm
Front Length: 72.1 cm
Back Length: 75.7 cm
Sleeve Length: 86.9 cm

I'd look up Loki if i were you, it's a smaller company based in colorado that makes really nice hoodies, softshells and some other articles of clothing.

I might have to check out a new one then, mine is pre-2016.  Good looking out, thanks.

I have a Fortrez also and wanted to let you know to try it on before you buy. While I love it, wear it year round climbing and find it plenty long it's also cut bigger than a similar size R1. I have a hard time finding gear that fits my shoulders and the Fortrez works well for me. If you're not built like an NFL linebacker it may not work for you.

Arcteryx has been slimming down their sizing so ymmv?

Consider a melanzana micro grid. It is lightweight, durable, and comes at a good price point.

I wrote a review for it on my blog here:

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
