What app do you like best for hangboard interval training? Is there a sequence and time periosds you have found particularly useful? (hang time, rest time, hang time, in between set rest, etc.)

I like a pen, notebook, and a stopwatch on my phone.

I've tried using Excel on my phone to enter stuff in so I could track over time but was tired of doing it.

$5 WalMart analog wall clock with a second hand & built in thermometer. Ticks loud enough to hear from a distance, I stick it on the floor or a chair right in front of the board. I don't like digital for hangs, and specifically dislike interval timers for hangs due to need to chalk on occasion and wanting full hang time even if I go a second long/over on the rest

IntervalTimer (free app on the iPhone) for the timer. Pen and paper to write down weights and holds. I follow the Rock prodigy timing

It is a bit of a hassle to set up the intervals the first time in the app, expect it to take 10-15 min, but once it is set, I like it.

The best thing IMO is that I can set the sound to ticking (or anything else, or nothing). I like to hear the ticking for the 7 sec when I hang, and then not have any sounds for rests. Bc of the tick I don't need to crane my neck and watch the timer as I hang. I know some people do it with music instead, if you pick something that is 120 beats per min it works like a charm. But I space out to music.

climbing friend,

it matters not. do not be fooling yourselve!

the only thing that matters is building up high level of sexual frustration and utilizing excruciatingly detailed spreadsheetz and formulaz, and also blasting the old school gangster rap, or my new wave beats so real so deep, during your hangings!

Color background change can be set and it's nice at a loud gym

I really like the BeastMaker app. I don’t even own a BeastMaker hangboard but most gyms do so I use it frequently.

Boulder Trainer works okay; making hangboard workouts can be a pain but does the interval for you. You can steal other people's workouts though.

Personally I like using "Tabata Timer". At least that's what it's called on Google Play. You can set your cycles and sets so as long as you stay on schedule you basically never need to touch your phone. The free version limits you to like 2 or 3 stored workouts.

Any updates on favorite timer apps?

It's not fancy but I use this app and it's worked well for me over the years:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.peterbosch.climbingtrainingtimer

Iirc it was originally developed by an individual using the Rock Prodigy board and protocols for the built in templates and then was later acquired by Trango after they absorbed the Anderson brothers IP

I switched back to using pen and paper, but I really like Tenso Hangboard. I messaged the developer and asked him why my hangboard layout (Rock Prodigy) wasn't in the app and he added it for me. 5/5 Stars

Digital wall clock for timing during a set. Strong iOS app for tracking workouts. I programmed in a ton of custom exercises for that (grips, rep scheme, pull vs. hang, etc.). For actual interval workouts I like Interval Timer. It’s customizable and has a display/UI that’s easy to see at a glance while climbing.

Gripped is good for a timer I think. Especially if you’re using a beastmaker

"Tabata Timer" is simple and easy. I use it for sprint intervals on the bike trainer too. There is an easily-skipped ad at the end of each workout session.

Best of all, the sounds have a brutal ascetic-aesthetic that broadcasts my misery to everyone in the gym.

I'm thinking about getting my AMGA HBI cert so I can guide bodyweight repeaters, then maybe upgrading to IFHGA so I can pick up the top-dollar Euro clients in Chamonix.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
