Advice Moving to Frisco / Copper Area

Hey Colorado locals,

I'm moving to work and live near the Copper Mountain/Frisco area in a few weeks, and I'm trying to find the best climbing spots around the area that you can get a lot of climbing in within a day or so. Living in Yosemite the past three years has spoiled me in terms of having such a concentrated amount of great climbing within biking distance. I'm definitely also looking to get into some cool alpine climbs over breaks and weekends.

Haus rock in keystone is rad. short but rad.

Royal buttress is underneath peak 1 and sucks but will satisfy the most psyched.

There might not be super high concentrations of rock but there sure is a lot around, so start poking through the MP map. It's mostly all there. Local stuff isn't amazing but not crappy either. Plus lots of great quality climbing can be found within a few hours drive, ex Rifle, RMNP, front range... Not to mention great access to the Gore range and all the amazing alpine climbing it holds. Enjoy.

It's called "Royal Flush" on Mt. Royal - one of the most beautiful walls in the county, and by far the best exposure. Tons of variations available too, not to mention the approach starts at the Frisco exit parking lot - yeah, all of 20 yards before you rope up.

Some other fun places are White Cliff - super slabby, low-angle climbs; somewhat long, but easy. Another spot that's a little further from the roar of I70 is Halfway Rock - face-climb moderates.

I'll definitely look more on the MP maps for beta. I've heard a lot about Royal Flush, sounds like some sweet multi-pitch action. Just missing that trad part!

Royal Flush I'll admit it is not bad, the road is a little distracting. Also, there's more than Royal Flush on that rock
