Salt Lake City Trip Beta
|
So I will be traveling to Salt Lake City for work this September (12th-17th) and was looking for some beta. Any guide books for the area....Close places that can be driven to, approached, and climbed after 5 PM and any big climbs worth doing. I will be trying to climb Tuesday-Thursday after 5 with hopes of doing some big climbs on Friday Saturday and Sunday. My hope is to do some multipitch trad in the 5.10 - 5.11 range over the weekend. Also....A partner would be nice |

So many options. A Granite Guide by Smith, Burr, and Phillips covers basically everything in and around Little Cottonwood Canyon. Mountain Project is plenty decent for Big Cottonwood Canyon. Sport and trad options abound just in those two canyons. If you want 5.11 multipitch trad, I'd recommend "Stifler's Mom." A quick seven pitches with a few fun and memorable hard moves with not much for an approach. https://www.mountainproject.com/v/stifflers-mom/105741476 If you're after single pitch trad cragging, check out Green A Gully: https://www.mountainproject.com/v/green-adjective-gully/105739443 |

I was digging into this a bit more...."Stiflers Mom" looks like a lot of fun. Any opinions of getting out to Lone Peak Cirque for 3 days. Is that enough time to make it worth it? I'm up for some alpine adventuring seeing as we don't get that out here on the east coast. |

If you want to go to the Cirque in Sept you'll have to bring in a bunch of water. Not sure if that's worth it. You could check out Arm and Hammer in Bell's Canyon or some of the routes on Devil's Castle if you're looking for a long hike to a multipitch route. |
