There is myriad camping up the road. You MUST have a fire permit for all fires, if they have not shut down fire use for the year.

From 395 head west through ravana. ~6 miles from they hwy you will come to a copse of trees on the left. This is the nicest spot, but there is camping up and down the road. This is what they call 'dispersed' camping; not toilets, no water, (do NOT drink the creek water, there is a mine right above you).

And please, pack it ALL out.

thanks Muscrat.  My Inyo map shows no restrictions camping restrictions for the area.  Don't worry I won't leave it a mess, I live in Big Bear and know the feeling when flatlanders trash my home.  Are there any bearboxes in the area besides at the hiking trailhead?  Or just hang food?

No boxes. I have never even seen them at the trailhead. Ask at the ranger station, but i believe that out of sight in the car is acceptable for the area.

What you looking to climb?

They are actually quite nice campsites right next to the creek. There aren't that many, as I recall, but they are decent. And you can walk from your camp to most of the climbing. No bear boxes.

I did see the photos of a bear getting into ones camp on the mountain project beta.  I have a pop up truck camper...so bears are not accustomed to breaking into things?

PSOM slab. High life, Big Deal, PBR streetgang, all 5.9 ish. John Fischer Memorial route is one of my all time faves, but solid 10+.

Racing lizards decent 5.7 intro to the area. Not sure you will find a lot of easy sport in the canyon.

Bears....have not had a prob, but ask the rangers.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
