I'm looking for some 8mm static line for TR. I need about 50' of it. Most accessory cord is sold in lengths of 30', and there is also Petzl Conga 8mm line that comes in 90'.

I want something in the middle, and I came across this- ebay.com/itm/282303516435?_…

Is this suitable for TR anchors? I know it doesn't specify climbing as an application, but it has 2400 lb breaking strength (11 kN).

Go with a certified climbing (static) rope. REI sells it by the foot online. They have a much larger safety margin built in. That eBay rope probably won't break but I suspect it's manufactured by a company who is NOT putting in the effort to ensure their rope is always meeting the load limit. Why would they pay extra for that level of QC for a rope that is "for Horse, Livestock or General Purpose."

To compare, Sterling's 8mm accessory cord ( sterlingrope.com/store/clim…) has an MBS of almost 16 kN.

11 kN only gives you at minimum 22 kN for a 2 piece cordallette anchor, probably closer to 18-20 kN. You want your anchor to be at least 24 kN. If you do a 3 piece anchor, you're probably ok, or if you have 2 independent strands per leg for a 2 piece cordallette, you're probably ok.

tl;dr: You're not going to die immediately if you use this.

That's also not factoring in strength loss due to knots...YGD. Somebody probably has used it and gotten away with it, but I wouldn't.

mountaingear.com has Bluewater 8mm perlon accessory cord for $.48/foot, which is the same price as the PNW cord. Really tough stuff.

Jump on this

Go PM this guy about his 60M and maybe get one of the 30M static lines for top rope anchors.

That rope from ebay is polyester, don't climb on it.

Nice! Those ropes are exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
