How: (cheap) transport / hitchhike from St. George airport to Springdale / Zion ?

How do people do this if you're too cheap to rent a car?

There doesn't appear to be a bus. I was thinking maybe there are shuttles to the hotels in Springdale, but I can't find any info on that.

The airport looks a ways from town, but if I got to town, how is St. George for hitchhiking the rest of the way?

Anyone have some experience in this?

You'll probably need to take a shuttle/taxi ($) from the airport to St George, then you can take the St George shuttle to Springdale ($) then take the free shuttle into and around the main canyon of the park. Not sure on the hitchhiking prospects.
