Hey there SF Bay Area climbers,

Any recommendations for quality Shoulder/Spine Physical Therapists in bay area? Ideally between San Mateo and Oakland?

I'm looking for a PT with some experience with climbing injuries and that likes to do a little detective work.

Bonus points if they're covered Blue Cross/Anthem PPO!

FYI:
I'm looking to work out some chronic shoulder/neck issues. Have had some stiffness and popping for years now, and ended up having my first thoracic rib removed after an developing a Deep Vein Thrombosis in my subclavian due to Thoracic Outlet Syndrome about a year ago. Feel like my shoulder/ribs/lower back have just not been sitting right for a couple years now, and I often have a weird sharp pain in my liver/pancreas area, but other than the TOS/DVT medical emergency, orthopedists and PCP have said there doesnt appear to be any obvious issues with the shoulder. No labral tears in MRI, nothing obviously out of whack in the X-rays other than some mild cervical spine degeneration. I've been able to climb again recently, and am getting some strength and endurance back, but it still feels like something's just not moving right, and I'm constantly cracking my neck and popping my shoulder. Yoga before climbing makes me feel twice as strong, but things tighten back up about an hour or two after a session ends. Puzzled and frustrated!

Thanks for any recommendations!

Not a physical therapist recommendation but ART (active release technique) massage could help you out as well.

I've been seeing Anthony for almost 2 years on a semi-regular basis (more if I'm injured) and it has helped me return to, and stay climbing, after an injury. I do a lot of PT on my own at home...

Good luck.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
