Checking to see if anyone has input or experience with Moab guided climbing services or knows which is the most respected. We have found red river adventures, windgate adventures, etc -- but have been having trouble deciding which to book. We are looking to get access to some of the desert towers (especially Castleton Tower).

Thank you very much for any advice!

I'd happily recommend Red River Adventures--they have a solid operation with a strong emphasis on ensuring their guides are both safe and fun. Alternately, Matt Pesce (I believe he works for Moab Desert Adventures) is a great guide and an amazing person.

I did some climbing with Moab Desert Adventures last year and had a great time and was really impressed. I've been thinking of going back for some towers this fall and would definitely get in touch with them again.

Like Caylor said, find Jay Anderson.
He's the best. Period.

Heidi Stanke at Cliffs and Canyons is exceptional, fun and knows the desert better than most. She is well qualified, very upbeat, positive and professional. Have fun!

I'd be remiss if I didn't chime in on this, as I can honestly say that all of the recommendations made above are good. Jay Anderson and Matt Pesce work with me at Moab Desert Adventures. They, as well as the rest of our staff, are among the best in the industry, with an amazing array of local experience, and Master status as desert climbers. Carl over at Red River runs a stand-up operation as well, and Larry is a local legend and great guide. Taking the recommendation of the local guidebook author could also work out well for you. The bottom line is, there are several good options to choose from in Moab. We're fortunate to have a solid pool of experienced, well-trained, and genuine guides. Give a call around and you'll get a good feel for who you'd like to climb with. Best of luck. Spring is already arriving, and we're looking forward to warm sunny days under the endless blue sky.

Nate (the above poster) is a great guide and you should check him out at Moab Desert Adventures. I climbed with him last spring and would absolutely do again.

Thanks to those that recommended my company, Red River, and Larry Harpe. Thanks to Nate for a very diplomatic and thoughtful response. I am in total agreement with his thoughts. There are lots of highly skilled and talented guides in Moab. Make some calls find one you get along with.

I think that really says something about the current direction here in Moab....harmony among the tribes. Different but united. Let's all keep it together in the fight for Bears ears !!
