To make a hand move, then move the same hand again (to a more distant hold).

or

To move a gear placement up to a higher position i.e. "I'm going to bump this cam up.")

A lot of people view the most recent forum posts as a way to stay current with topics being discussed on this site. This is most easily done by viewing this link:

People who don't have anything to contribute to a particular discussion but nevertheless want to boost the topic to the top of the most recent threads simply create a post that says "bump" and predictably the thread goes to the top of the list. It gets pretty annoying after the first or second bump.
