Redness on top of middle knuckle after climbing, no pain yet but...

Hi, first post here. I may have a possible injury on my middle finger knuckle after climbing. When I bend my fingers I feel slight cracking in the exact knuckle that has turned bright red only on the top of the knuckle. There is no pain when I bend the finger or when I touch and poke around the finger and I have full movement but the two symptoms together have me very worried. I've heard of people having major injuries where the pain doesn't show up till the next day.

Any advice or info on what could be causing the redness on top of the knuckle and if I should go to urgent care or not?

Thank you in advance for any info you can offer.

Do you have health insurance that you could see a hand orthopedist?

Just a follow-up, they ended up amputating my finger. No just kidding, my friend told me if I can move it with no pain and there's no strength lost then I'm fine. Still no pain and climbing normally happy to say. I probably bruised it somehow while climbing.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
