Hey everyone!
I would so appreciate if you guys who have had experience with the Suunto Spartan ultra (or spartan sport), to give a quick pros and cons to the watch... seeing as this watch is quite an investment (up to $800 retail), it'd be cool to hear from people who have had experience with it! Thanks.

Got mine showing up tomorrow so I may be able to post up soonish. Speaking of that watch showing up, anyone want to pick up a used Ambit 3 Vertical in lime w/ HR strap?

Read the reviews. They released a beta product with poor software and perhaps firmware. Go to Suunto Gets Stronger to read about the latest updates. Until a couple weeks ago you couldn't even customize the sport modes. Still does not have POI navigation. Reports of frozen screens or deleted data are pretty common. They look sexy, and I use my Ambit nearly every day. But I'm not sold until they get the kinks worked out. There's a new Spartan with a heart rate monitor that reads from the watch instead of your chest being shown at OR for release this spring, fwiw: Spartan Sport Wrist HR. I wouldn't be interested if it didn't have the sapphire glass

One of the better resources that I've found for info on GPS/sports watches.

Ended up not using it as much as my Peak.  It is really good looking and has a unique aesthetic.  In the end I can't really justify it in addition to my other units

Best Electronics Review you'll find  Thats for the Spartan Ultra in particular

Lots has changed since that October review and since this thread started in January. The updates have fixed the Spartan, and I bought an Ultra. I'm happy with it. One change that is a bigger deal to me than I thought is the removal of the antenna bulge. This makes the watch sit much much better on the wrist. So much more comfortable

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
