Backcountry skiing near Boise- where to go?

Hello all,

This is my first winter in Idaho, and would like to do some skiing sans resorts.

There's some info available online that mentions backcountry skiing around Bogus Basin and Mores Summit Creek area. However, the information I've found so far is a bit spotty. I'm hoping there's someone out there who can point me in the direction of better resources, or otherwise fill in some of the gaps.

For getting into the backcountry around Bogus or Mores, can anyone fill me in regarding:
- Where to park the car
- Any permits needed
- Any red tape
- Roughly where the uphill ski track is from the parking lot
- Best snowtel for these locations

Also, I have a backcountry set-up and any gear if anyone is looking for more skiing partners.

Thanks everyone!

You might get some info from the folks at The North Face and Idaho Mountain Touring, both located in downtown Boise.

Check out the Idaho Outdoors Forum for trip reports. Also the website associated with it.
