Winter camping in the amphitheater campground, Ouray

I'm looking to spend 3 nights in Ouray this February for a climbing trip and was hoping to camp in the amphitheater campground. According to Recreation.gov, the campground closes for winter. Will anyone give me a hard time If I throw down a tent?

You won't be able to get up there. The road is closed in winter, however you can throw down a tent at the RV park.
