I'll be bouldering in the Rocklands, South Africa, for a few days in early October, and was wondering if anyone had some advice on where to stay and climb. I'm looking for some inexpensive lodging, (I won't have a tent, so no camping). I probably won't have a car, so easy access to the boulders, and rental pads available, would be huge.
De Pakhuys campsite might work for your specifications. The camping is cheap, but they have small cabins for rent as well. Not sure what the cost of the cabins is currently. From there you have a short walk to several areas.
Last I checked there is still no place to rent pads. You might check with CityRock Cape Town (3+ hours away), but they haven't rented pads in the past. Also, not having a car could make getting all the way to De Pakhuys challenging. Clanwilliam is the closest "town" and it is a good 30-40 mins of driving further off the beaten path to get to the campsite.
