Good Climbing Shoe Store in North Carolina?

Looking to get some downturned shoes (wearing Mythos right now) and the selection of climbing shoes at retail stores in the Triangle (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) is pretty terrible.

The only downturned shoe they have in stock in the Triangle is the LS MIura, which just doesn't fit my feet correctly.

Anyone know of any stores/gyms with a good selection elsewhere in NC (Asheville, Winston-Salem)?

REI online has a much larger selection than in the store. You can get free shipping direct to whichever Triangle store is closest and then try them on right there. Just immediately return whatever pairs don't fit right there at the store.

Not as good a solution as having a dedicated climbing store, and you need the cash or credit to pull it off, but it's an option. Probably take a couple of weeks if you can't order more than one pair at a time. If you select the in-store pickup option you're not out the shipping costs though.

I'm pretty sure TRC sells Solutions or at least they used to. REI in Cary has Shamans as well

Black Dome in Asheville has a decent selection, but far and away the best is at Waterstone in Fayetteville, WV. Combine it with a trip to the new to try out your new shoes.

Black Dome, in Asheville, would be a good place to check.

Man just take a trip to WV and go to Waterstone. As good of selection as you'll find anywhere. Don't waste time driving to Ashville you'll just wish you went to WV.

Great Outdoor Provision has locations in Greensboro and W-S. Not a huge selection, but worth a try. greatoutdoorprovision.com/

Foot Sloggers in Boone has pretty nice selection of aggressive 5.10 and La Sportiva shoes (if you're in Boone).

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to the new this fall and will hit up waterstone for some shoes while I'm there.

Sadly even REI's online inventory is sorely lacking in the most common shoe sizes (and many of the most highly-rated shoes). Likewise, TRC did not have solutions in anywhere near my size.

If you're in the charlotte area the inner peaks climbing center in South End has a great selection.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
