I want to climb the Owl's Head classic, and whatever else the area has to offer. I'm competent in sport and trad and have all gear.

Looks like Owls Head is closed. But haven't been there myself.

Thanks for the heads up. Do you have a link to a source of info?

Paul I just looked at the Central Az/ Santan page here on MP and it said Access was restricted. Never really heard much about the area other than that.

I live in San Tan and I've thought about heading out there before. I saw there were access issues though. Figured I'd look into them once it gets a bit cooler in the valley...

I got kinda close to what looked like Owl's Head--I saw a formation that looked like it had the sharp, pointy ears sticking up ha! Looks like residential areas aren't in short supply around there. The guy sitting in the booth at the entrance for the San Tan Regional Park says that rock climbing has been deemed "too dangerous" by the fire department, and people are likely to report any active climbing they see.

Quite a shame. I got close enough to see some real potential on that shady rock!

I’ve climbed a few routes out there, all trad and tons of choss. I have the old topo.

Very adventurous

I have tried without success to receive any contact regarding the closure. I gave up trying to find more information after a bunch of non-returned calls and emails. I really wish there was more dialog between the park and the users (similar to Scottsdale).
