Gatlinburg

Anyone know of any place to climb in the Gatlinburg/ Pigeon-Forge area?

how far are you willing to drive from Gatlinburg?

Pretty much nothing in GSMNP afaik.

Two most well known area's in the vicinity are Chattanooga and the Red River Gorge. Big South Fork also has some climbing. Check the online guide here for routes. Check redriverclimbing.com for the Red.

If you're up for an adventure, North Carolina has lots of stuff. Linville Gorge, Table Rock, Looking Glass, etc.

Cragging? Chatt or the Obed would be your best bet.

Maybe 30-45 minuets. Im heading up that way for a retreat, and wanted to get some climbing in, but im not to familiar with the area

As far as I know, there isn't anything within 45 minutes of Gatlinburg. Big south fork is about 2hrs away, as is the Obed. Devil's racetrack, near Caryville, is about 1.5hrs. Ijam's nature center, in South Knoxville, has a climbing area now - a handful of short but worthwhile sport routes. Ijam's crag would be about an hour from Gatlinburg, which may be the closest climbing to where you are.

I think Look Rock is the closest and not much of an approach either. Not many routes but it's probably within your 45 min drive!
