I heard about this cave that can be explored at Rumbling Bald in North Carolina, leading to a series of other caves and a hole high in the cliff wall known as the "Attic Window". Anyone have any information that could lead me to the entrance of this cave? I've been looking around and cant find any sort of directions. I attached a video of the cave I'm looking for. Thanks! youtube.com/watch?v=7PBmIVy…

Is "white nose disease" still a problem? Many caves have been voluntarily closed to protect the bats

White Nose IS still a problem. There are still signs at all of the cave entrances and kiosk that tell us not to enter.

The Flittermouse Grotto would be a great resource to reach out to for this subject

I hate to be a wet blanket since I have been in them many times in the past, but: The cave is inside Chimney Rock State Park and are closed by the authorities. In addition, they are likely more dangerous than normal due to a massive rockfall there a couple months ago. Stay away.

I've CLIMBED IT! It was really sweet, it starts at Rumbling Bald, and is, in fact, open to the public. The bats do not inhabit this particular cave! https://tilthelasthemlockdies.blogspot.com/2012/09/rumbling-bald-climbing-mountain-from.html this blog covers it, but basically, it starts hidden in the rocks (there are a few other misleading caves) but then you head back through a large v-shaped horizontal cavern, very tall, then climb through the cavern with the pentacles (bring holy water ;) until you come to a rope. Climb the rope, look to the back of that and you'll find a blue arrow that points right, the start of the trail. You'll be seeing those blue arrows all the way, leading up and up, taunting you, drawing you in further. Warning, it's pretty advanced, there are some cramped areas, some slippery rocks, and one giant boulder on the edge of a cliff that is very sketchy and loose (we scratched an X on it) I would recommend bringing ropes or CAMs if you aren't really confident with free-climbing with your hands on slippery gritty rocks over big drops or groping through the darkness. Not for the faint of heart, but an epic view, one that is literally unimaginably cool. definitely cool to climb up through the heart of a mountain, would recommend if you can find it, and are advanced and very confident in your abilities as a caver and a climber. Not for the claustrophobic or those without a head for heights. Beautiful though. But this cave will kill ya if you aren't careful.

So, I'm sorry, if directions were unclear to get here, https://www.summitpost.org/rumbling-bald-mountain/153990 This includes driving directions and a pic of the cave's entrance. I know it's up the Jeep trail. Head to the back of the cave and up the rope, and follow the blue arrows. Watch out for a lot of loose, sliding rocks. Sorry I wasn't able to post this earlier, folks! Keep climbing, and rock on!

The cave is indeed CLOSED to the public. Check the parking lot kiosk for evidence of this statement. I disagree with this policy, but it is what it is.
