Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone had more info on the wall at Stone Door, TN

I know its mostly TRAD....is there fixed gear to top rope from the top?

How is the top rope area?

Anyone know how the weather is?

Thanks for all your help. I'm heading down there with a group at the end of month.

I haven't been, but I was thinking of making a trip there so I've looked into it a little. If you want a guide book, it's in Dixie craggers, although the section on stone door is pretty small. The weather at the end of march should be great temperature wise. Who knows about rain...I would count on some. If you're coming down strictly for climbing, I would head elsewhere. If you're going there for sure, check out Dixie craggers for beta

I went there once around 5 years ago at this time of year. Temperatures should be fine. Like Paul said, it's more the precipitation you have to watch out for.

I don't recall there being much in the way of fixed anchors, if any. Be prepared to use trees and other natural features as anchors for top rope setups.

It's been a while so take this with a grain of salt, but I don't recall the cliff being all that tall. You may be able to top rope many of the climbs outside the "top rope area" with a 70 meter rope. If not, you could always just belay from the top.

The climbing there from what i can remember was very uneventful and more of a pain that really was not worth the effort. I am not trying to be Debbie Downer but it was pretty terrible. Go for a hike take in the view maybe find some hillside boulder but rope climbing there is just not great.

For anyone else looking for info about Stone Door....We didn't climb there. We went to Foster falls which was about 30mins south...Great place to climb!

Video from the backpacking trip though in Savage Gulf.
