TMG Supplement Question

Hi Fellow Climbers,

Like most of you, due to my climbing, training, and aging body, I have my fair share of joint and connective tissue issues. Like most of you I try to do the right things regarding stretching, good technique, diet, sufficient sleep, etc. Recently I had a conversation with a friend who has an advanced degree in human nutrition from a reputable university, but not a climber. During the course of the conversation I shared with her the dietary things I was using (turmeric, fish oil, etc.--the usual things we all seem to end up using at one point or another) to support my climbing. Her comment was it was all good, but she suggested one additional supplement I was not using or had even heard of, nor discussed on forums such as this.
She recommended TMG (trimethylglycine). I have done some limited online research and there does seem to be a fair amount of literature to support the notion that it can be beneficial to an athlete who is pushing his/her body and can be beneficial to bone and connective tissue health. There do not seem to be any well documented adverse side effects. So other than the modest cost of buying the supplement there does not seem to be any reason not to give it a try.
But I thought I might ask the wider climbing community. Has anyone tried TMG? Did it seem to help? Were there side effects and/or adverse effects? As I said above I have never seen any discussion of this supplement on any climbing forum nor discussed much generally. So I am interested in the experience of others should they wish to share.

Thanks, cheers, and safe climbing to all,
Bob Loomis, Spokane, WA.
