I have a pair of Patagonia alpine guide pants, but multiple boots frome huge to nimble. The pants come with eyelets on the cuff to keep the pant leg from riding up. Maybe a dumb question but what do people use and how do they tie it so it can fit more than one pair of boots, last more than three steps on the trail, and not cause a tripping hazard when wearing crampons? Surely somebody has a better method than doing what I do, which amounts to foot yoga and fat knots on 3mm cord. I want to ditch my stupid gaiters.
Also, anyone have a pant recommendation for normal sized people? These pants are nice but too baggy, and the next size down is like a speedo. WTF Patagonia?
Pant recommendation: if you like those pants otherwise, besides the baggy fit, take them to a tailor/alterations place. For $25-$50, they will be made custom fitted. I've done this with a pair of Arc' Gamma LT pants and a pair of Patagonia Northwall pants, and I loved the results.

Use shock-cord. Doesn't need to be a very long loop, stretches to fit different boots and easy to stow away when not needed.
They work for everything but glissading. If you can find a pair with cuff drawcords and or a lacehook, they work even better!

+1 for shock cord/bungy cord.
I'll actually double up a length on 3mm bungy cord, girth hitch it to one side, and then feed it through the eyelet on the other side from outside to inside, where I have a cord lock that stays inside the pants. That way it's adjustable for any number of boots without the need for foot yoga. Works like a charm.
