I understand that a much-loved bar has closed in Bishop..... where do the boulderers go now for a beer after a great day? I'm headed there soon (am from the east coast so am out of the regional loop)
The Black Sheep coffee shop serves beer and is very climber friendly. Your other options right now are Rusty's & McMurry's, both more rednecky. The Mountain Rambler Brewery is not yet open on a regular basis, unfortunately. All are on Main (395) within a few blocks.

I don't know if more red-necky is the right term, as the sheep is not red-necky and the other two are straight up redder than red-necky :) With that said, I love both and they even excepted me with a rainbow scarf on, not without a lot of "what the f's".
Not a bar but the Manor is your best bet for quality beers.
Thanks everyone! Great info to have! I'm sad that I might just miss the opening of the brewery, but I'm glad to know where to go otherwise. I do have a soft spot for dive bars, so maybe Rusty's or McMurry's will scratch that itch
This just reminded me of a ridiculous night I had some years ago, a friend and I got asked to leave Rusty's so we went across the street. We ordered Irish Carbombs, I got about 3/4 through the chug, choked and blew it all back onto the bartender. I threw some cash on the bar on my hurried way out the door. I'm amazed I made the walk home that night!!!
