Hey, I just recently moved to Denver(mistake) from the mountains. I plan on buying a Winter Park/Copper pass this year. Do any of yall know where some good winter overnight van camping is? Back roads, parking lots, pull offs, businesses that dont care, your driveway. Anywhere. I just dont want to be driving back and forth from Denver everytime I ski. Any help would be awesome!
There a quite a few pulloffs heading down the backside of Berthoud Pass heading to Winter Park the best being on your left heading down from the top plus you can park at the top of the pass.
Copper has a rest area near Frisco or if you want more peace and quiet head up 91 and there is a pull off by Clinton Rez. Just drive around, most of the pulloffs and trailheads are obvious.
Lots of good winter camping around Winter Park. You can camp in the outer lot at Jane, but they don't really like that. Otherwise, St. Louis Creek and Vazquez Creek forest roads you can camp. You can camp almost on any road in WP - I lived there for a couple years and people did it all the time. No one cares unless you make yourself known.
