I'm taking some family up American Fork canyon this weekend and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of the absolute easiest climbs? There are so many I have no idea where to start! Taking people who have never climbed before.

Bottom of "Tank Canyon" directly across from The Membrane pull out. Short, but easiest routes in the canyon

The area around Hard Rock is a good choice. Some of the easier climbs are not in the Ruckman guidebook, but are listed here on MP. Serenity is a newer area that has some easier climbs, a short approach, and a relatively flat and shady area at the base of the climbs. As a new area the routes are still cleaning up, so helmets would be a good idea and don't have a bunch of people standing around directly beneath the climber. Serenity is listed here on Mountain Project. In general, I never considered AF very user friendly for first time climbers. It's a longer drive, but have you considered going down to Maple?

I'd recommend tank canyon for this as well, it's a bit more of a safe environment compared to the hard rock area...

especially if you'll have small children with you, serenity and hard rock would be hard spots for the little ones to run around, but still be safe.

Thanks for the advice! No small kids, so might try out hard rock and tank canyon. Thank you !

Depending on how comfortable you are with little kids Hard rock isn't too bad. I know the OP said no kids but I chimed in for posterity. My 2 and 4 year old have gone up there several times. Both made it halfway up rockapella and they actually really like the hike up. As long as you have more adults than kids it can be managable. Although we do bring snacks and toys and such that they can play with in a safe spot away from the slope down the hill.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
