So as most of you know, I've been selling a bit of climbing gear here and there, more of a hobby after my 'normal' job. I have decided to move forward, try to make it into a business/website and see where it goes but I have 1 issue. What would I name it? I sell anything climbing related, but also pulleys/rescue equip and zip lining gear. I don't want to limit it purely to technical items, and may want to branch into tents, sleeping bags, etc... My goal is to provide quality items for reasonable prices, some are new and some are lightly used. I was originally thinking - Repurposed Outdoor Company, then again I have the creativity of a board so I'm requesting the MP communities' help. I welcome any advice on the name and site name whether it's beneficial or not, I'm always up for a good laugh! Thanks M

"Sdm1568's Outdoor Gear" is accurate but not all that catchy.

my vote goes in for (sloped off crimp climbing and outdoors) or copy companies like Patagonia and north face and call you business (Kilimanjaro or Everest or even Vail gear)

I was going to suggest "Second Ascent" to reflect the used gear focus, but it seems that is already taken. Now I can't think of anything else good. On a related note, I've always been curious about your setup after noticing how much gear you put up for sale. Where do you get all that stuff? I promise I'm not trying to steal your business model, just curious.

If you're ever there, they sell the prior few months of climbing magazines for dirt cheap. Bottom of the magazine rack by the front door.

Whatever you do, don't name it Hoochie Momma Mountaineering.
Call it Strung Out Biker Slut Gear.

How about, "Cheap, But Not Stolen, Climbing Gear"? Notice you didn't answer the above poster's question about where you get all the gear. How about "No Questions Asked Climbing Gear"? "Get it Before We're Raided" I have a lot more if you want. :)

This is what I PM'd the above poster, I don't mind giving a basic idea of where I obtain gear. Long story short, contracted businesses sometimes buy quantities of gear that they don't need and or shouldn't have bought in the first place, but because of their massive budgets it's overlooked. Spring cleaning, audits, etc happens and this gear it at times available for sale via auctions. Sorry for being so vague but the 'business model' is still a secret (if you want to call it that) and what I have learned is it could be drying up very soon as monies and budgets get tighter. I can't really say it's a business model because it is very inconsistent.... Check airport auctions, you'd be surprised what has been lost in transit and not reclaimed. ^^^^ especially those of you near climbing areas and international airports

Nobody likes used stuff. Take, for example, a pulled pork sandwich. Everybody likes a good pulled pork sandwich. But a used pulled pork sandwich? Why that's just shit.

I like "mountain booty!" Quick thoughts: "Second Chance Gear Company" or some variation thereof...

If I went to a site named mountainbooty.com and all I saw was climbing gear I would be pretty disappointed. ; ) It's almost too good!

I like mountainbooty, but if that is taken, a simplistic aproach may work. Since you mentioned branching out, maybe something like gearme.com, or LimeStonegear.com maybe even Taken. How bout muchogear.com, or geardammit.com Dasissgear??
