Scarpa Mont Blanc Boot Treatment

I got a new pair of Mont Blancs and I was thinking about being proactive and treating them before they get dirty or abused. I made a few purchases from McNett and one of the things I got was a leather boot waterproofing spray. I've been doing research on how to treat the mont Blancs and I feel as though I should have purchased a suede/nubuck conditioner instead of leather because the exterior of the Mont Blanc boot is "reversed leather". Anyone have any tips or expierence with this? My thoughts are that the leather spray will reinforce the waterproofing of the boot but perhaps change the color/texture of the boot. My first pair of "real boots" so I don't want to do anything I will regret.

Nikwax for suede nubuck works great on mine. No discoloration or change in the leather. With any new product, do a spot test on the heel or somewhere not noticeable. But, they are mountain boots so they are designed to be abused, so who cares if the leather gets messed up, right?

I've been using mine for two seasons now and they have zero signs of wear. People keep asking me if they're new. Just keep them clean and they'll take care of themselves.

I guess if they needed to be treated out if the box then they wouldn't be good boots.... I'm gonna leave them for now. If I do treat them down the road ill use the suede/nubuck stuff. Thanks for the suggestions, looking forward to beating them up this winter and then Peru in Spring!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
