I'm recovering from a serious injury from a bad fall. The thread "Bad couple days on longs peak" on this site gets into that for those that are interested.
I'm still in a back brace and am recovering from a spinal fusion (t3-t9). Right now I can walk a few miles a day, and do very limited upper body exercise.
When I do get the green light to start PT, I'm really interested in working with a therapist who understands both my somewhat unusual condition and climbing mechanics. It being the front range, I'm pretty sure there are PTs out here who climb.
Yo Brudda, glad to hear you are healing up. Slow, I'm sure...but you'll be back out there soon enough. Hang in there.
Dr. Andy Pruitt in Boulder (303/544-5700) runs the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine and sees tons of athletes--climbers included. Once you're getting deep-tissue work and all, then Dr. Steven Melis (ProActive Chiropractic in Gunbarrel) is awesome. A bunch of the professional climbers in town see him. You might also ask Dr. Peter Hackett up at Steadman-Hawkins in Vail; he does a lot of orthopedic work on climbers and can probably recommend a PT down in Denver/Boulder.
Good luck and keep on it. You'll be climbing/riding/skiing again soon.
I have a lot of confidence in (depending upon your insurance): Michelle Harris, North Boulder PT & Kyle Hensley, Alpha Rehabilation at 30th & Arapahoe in Boulder.
Both are climbers and the senior therapists at their offices. I tried a lot of other offices and therapists before finding these two.
