So what are the perks? Sounds like a lot of work!

It is a volunteer position with a daily stipend of $24 as well as a free place to park your trailer, tent etc. for the summer. There are solar panels for electricity and a sewer one can hook into but there is not water. There are nearby springs, but no water hook-up at the site. There are 8 restrooms to clean, 21 campsites, 1 group site, a picnic area and boat launch. Most hosts find they can get through their duties by doing 2-4 hours of work in the morning and 2-3 hours in the evening, with the evening work being mostly answering questions as campers arrive and the morning work being cleaning the restrooms, posting the reservations, making sure all campfires are out etc. Hosts are otherwise sort of on-call in the sense that if a fire breaks out they notify the FS etc.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
