While there are areas within Moreau State Park that are generally visited by ice climbers (mostly on the back side of the park), they unfortunately fall into the same problem as other state parks (Thatcher, Letchworth, Watkins Glen) when it comes to access/legality. When the last UMP was being written for the park, a group of local ice climbers were able to get one line in the appendix during the public comment period about climbing that reads something like "explore future opportunities for climbing recreation". I exchanged a few phone calls and had a meeting last year with the folks at the park to stay in the loop...I sent a PM to you (Michael Urban). I'll be sure to post any progress that is made, especially as the folks at Thatcher keep working ahead. Thanks.
