Does anyone have recommendations for truly dog-friendly lodging in Estes Park?

I've stayed at one cabin that claimed to be dog-friendly but, when I checked in, I was told that dogs could not be left in the cabins while we were out. And, that's pretty ridiculous when you think about it.

When you consider that most people who stay in Estes are there to go into RMNP and the fact that you can't have dogs in the park (other than in the parking lots), it doesn't make much sense to accept dogs but not allow them to stay there while their owners are in the park.

we've had good luck checking out vrbo.com - we've stayed in a couple places just to the east of the stanley and had zero problems with dogs (minus the elk that is). i looked for the house we normally take but couldn't find the listing. good luck...

That is what doggie day care is for - I always plan on that if I am going somewhere not particularly dog friendly and have to leave my dog behind. Cheaper than carpet cleaning or replacing a door if your dog goes nuts being left alone somewhere strange.

I've had a lot of dogs. I've traveled a lot. I personally don't think it's fair to the animal to leave it locked in a room while I'm on my day trip. I truly feel it's better to find a boarding kennel that exercises dogs and takes good care of them. Win, win. The dog is a bit more socialized when you get home and you haven't had to deal with the stress of finding a place which is "dog Friending" To find a place which is truly dog friendly you'll shell out BIG bucks to appease your quilt and fefe won't be any better off than if you left him/her in a good kennel. Or crate train your dog . A dog which is crate trained is very content in their crate. It's a safe, secure place for them. An untrained dog in a crate is a freakin' nightmare.

If you can train a dog to happy in a crate why can't you train them to be happy in a cabin? Seriously though, if you can't leave the dog unattended, ever, crate training wouldn't help. You still couldn't leave them in the room alone, crate or no crate.

I'm glad to see that you're all conscientious and responsible dog owners. No need to worry, though, my dog doesn't have to worry about being left alone for extended periods of time.

And, fortunately, I don't have to worry about her making a mess or tearing things up. When I leave her alone, she heads to her crate and sleeps so that she'll be well rested and have plenty of energy when I return.

You may think I'm crazy...but have you tried the YMCA of the Rockies? It's amazing, spacious, and the cabins are very reasonably priced & dog friendly!! I've stayed there a couple of times and my dog loves it! There are tons of trails and open space for a dog.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
