Camping near Golden, CO

In town for climbing trip. Got in a couple days before campsite reservations on Sunday. Looking for a spot to camp until then. Any recommendations?

With the hot weather we are having it has a lake you can cool off in.

Morrison is only a stone's throw away.

We found a great free site just on the Peak to Peak highway North of Golden Gate State Park. It's a bit before Rollinsville but north of where the park road meets Peak to Peak.

You could try White Ranch Park. Its only a few miles from the mouth of Clear Creek Canyon, and right off of CO93 to head into Eldo/Boulder.

Reservations can be made at the trailhead, its free to park/camp, there are bathrooms, water pumps, provided firewood, bear boxes/food hanging spots for each site, and each site is only about 1-2 miles from where you park.

Or you could go a little further to Golden Gate Canyon SP for a similar experience where you can camp and climb all in the same location.

Doesnt the city of golden have a rv site with a few tent sites near downtown...three tent sites
