Bouldering Wall Flooring

So our fire chief asked me to build a bouldering wall in one of our stations. It'll be around 14 ft high. The crux of the whole project (financially) seems to be the flooring. I see some people online saying that they use 4" foam with 2" gym flooring on top of that. I'm also planning on buying an 8"x8'x8' bouldering mat to supplement for higher falls. Does anybody have any insight on the density of foam I should use or who I could order from? Any other ideas are welcome too. Thanks!

if you are getting a big landing pad you should just keep it simple with the padding. Mattresses generally work really well especially if combined with a crashpad on top if money is an issue.

As far as I can tell ordering foam by itself is pretty expensive anyways and it varies in quality and density.

Asana makes custom floor padding and others do to: asanaclimbing.com/gymCustom…

Looks like it runs around $18/sq ft so that adds up quick. Might just want to look into getting two drag pads: asanaclimbing.com/dragPad.htm

Also I remembered this old thread on making home-made crashpads: mountainproject.com/v/homem…

and they use a place called: thefoamfactory.com/

Good luck.
