overhanging sport climbing?
|
i am moving to colorado soon, and i've grown to love the overhanging sport climbs at the red river gorge in kentucky. i have heard that this type of climbing is few and far between in colorado, besides at rifle. |

Clear creek has some overhanging routes but nothing is going to compare to the Red. You will not find many juggy overhanging routes in Colorado. The geology of the Red is very unique and differs from the geology of Colorado. Typically the overhanging routes in Colorado are on the harder side, 12+ and up. Although Rifle is steep I don't think it compares to the Red. A couple walls might come close. The Arsenal and The Wicked Cave come to mind. |

You may want to fall in love with "steep slabs". |

Sport climbing in the flatirons tends to be overhanging or at least not slabby. Usually on the back and sides of the formations, the highly visible east faces are definitely slabtastic. |

I've been in Colorado for almost two years now and the one thing I REALLY, REALLY miss is the Red River Gorge. I haven't found anything that even comes close out here. Devils Head was fun but still not the red. |
