Flaky, peeling fingertips

I suffer from a variety of minor skin conditions, and when i climb a lot, my fingertips get really dry and peely (not sure that's a word).

I started using Climb On's intensive skin repair lotion bar, and it seems to be helping. What are some other things that work well to protect and repair hands?

I don't think there's a magic cure. Rest? You can use super glue for splits. but all around repair/care I think you've got it.

Do you climb limestone alot? Could be just chem reaction of simple weak acids working from rock to skin.

Make sure it isn't a simple thing like not keeping your self well hydrated. Most people don't drink enough water. How much do you water do you drink every day?

Gotta keep those hands pretty for the ladies.

CANDY "Well, that glove’s fulla Vaseline."
GEORGE "Vaseline? What the hell for?"
CANDY "Well, I will tell ya what—Curley says he’s keepin’ that hand soft for his wife."

First one to guess the quote right gets a free biner yippy! (No Google!)

Of mice and men.

I have the same condition. Been to the dermatologist a bunch and they just call it dermatitis. Tried everything out there including a steriod cream that they give me. Nothing seems to help, excpet for continuing to climb untill my tips are super raw, odly enough. For some reason it seems to shed the weak dry peely stuff and grow back better. Good luck, it sucks.

Also, chalk is not helping the cause, but it's hard to go cold turkey. If you are using metolius chalk, switch to a different brand, they put some nasty stuff in theirs, some extra drying agent.

I don't have a condition, but if I don't climb for a while, my skin starts to peel some. Climbing on granite helps because it takes away all the dead, peeling stuff.

Just use an Emory board to sand off the peeling pieces. I also use one to keep the callouses down so they don't rip off.

I also use climb on bar, Also you might want to try this stuff call "Corn Hunkers" amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss…

I used to use that before I started to use the bar, works just as good or better then bar but it don't feel as clean as the bar.

Limestone is basic. Calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Try putting a acid on it some time, it will fizz. But a base could do weird things to the skin too.

Hello how are you? I'm seeing this post about a period where skin is peeling off after a climbing session. I realized that today I find myself in the same situation as you. I would like to know if you managed to solve your problem with your skin and how it got better? Whenever I go for a climb, my skin is falling out a few days after each session. Sorry for my bad english!

Você ainda tem esses problemas com a sua pele? Estou passando pela mesma situação, mas não consigo descobrir como melhorar. Sempre que vou escalar tenho esse problema

Lather up the hands with lotion, Climb On, whatever and put cotton gloves made for this purpose on at night. Sleep. Repeat. Your hands will thank you. You can also use finger cots (like crazy tight little finger condoms available at drugstores) plus Vaseline or lotion. Same effect, different mouth feel

I often get this around a week or so after I return from a few days climbing in a row. Contact dermatitis, likely from aluminium oxide. Belay gloves help. And wash your rope.

I see, lately I've only been climbing at the gym. I'm trying to find out what my trigger of dermatitis is, because by the frequency I believe it's my case. The problem that bouldering gloves in the gym would be very bad.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
