Rock Climbing Resume
|
Hey! Does anyone have any good examples of rock climbing resumes? I am writing mine and want it to look good and professional and would love to see some examples. |
|
Did one some years ago. Included mountain ranges and areas visited, plus all leadership skills used, NOT endless lists of personal first ascents of 5.11's etc. Include any mountain rescue experience or certifications too. I think years experience and variety( ranges, glacial, mountaineering, ice, rock, aid, sport, etc.) are valuable. Hard to say how to lay it all out so it isn't just a giant paragraph about yourself. Good luck. |

What are you using the resume for? Knowing that will probably help some folks guide you in the right direction. |

Hmmm, seeing that the op signed up just today I'm gonna say there's a 50/50 chance their post is a troll. |

|
Why not check out Jim Ebert's climbing resume? It's not too soon |

If not, please forgive me and definitely follow Marc H's advice and tell us what this resume is for.So, signing up for Mountain Project and then using its forum is trolling? Geez, I guess I'm a troll too. |

YOU yourself started a thread in the forum on the same day you signed up for MP on June 9, 2010. Should you have accused yourself of trolling? Stop calling every new member of any internet forum a troll. Sometimes people find new sites and join them. Get over it. |

the resume is for a guiding/instructor position... it is a climbing and adventure school, but they specifically asked me to submit a climbing resume but I am not exactly sure what they are looking for. Any examples that people could post would be great! |
|
Any teacher certification or instructional work at all? Take a safety or avalanche class sometime? Can you get some done nearby? Having mountaineering or basic first aid training might be helpful too. As an istructor,I imagine they want to know your level of leading and years of experience. Anchor setting course? Knowledge of lots of belay devices and climbing gear functions in general. I'd include as much of that if possible. |

It's supposed to be a 1-2 page add (marketing material) about how amazingly wonderful you are and why they must hire YOU and not the next guy... Then when you show up you can be the humble climber... Education Certifications and Courses Climbing Experience (Lead Routes, notable bouldering, mountaineering, significant peaks) Trips you've led... incl. with friends. Other Interesting Skills Some good sections. |

Think of the subtopics you want to highlight, and how to give enough details but not make it look cluttered |

We have to put a stop to this trolling shit immediately. The only other option is to let people post what they want and make the choice to either ignore it or not. Holy shit. That seems next to impossible. Turns out it was a valid post! What are the odds?I believe I put it at 50/50 ;) |
