for the Myo, I'm not crazy about the battery pack in the back, but it allows for 3xAA batteries with they're durability. The Storm is pretty powerful but getting heavy with 4 AAA on your forehead. All depends what you want it for, power+durability=Myo but it's less packable. I've only had Petzl headlamps and never had any problems with them. I was looking at the Tikka XP2, but I'm waiting a tiny bit before I finalize, Petzl is probably going to release something new soon. Myo XP: 150-85 Lumens, 97-72m, boost-80hr / 34m, 180hr, 175g Tikka XP²: 60 Lumens, 60m, 80hr / 17m, 160hr, 88g Storm: 100 lumens, 70m, 50 hr/ 4 lumens, 5m, 200hr, 66+bat g Spot: 75 lumens, 70m, 50hr / 4 lumens, 5m, 250hr, 54+bat g

I just picked up the Storm, and I have had many a headlamp (none of the others you mentioned though). This thing rocks. I don't notice the extra weight of the batteries, and I use it while biking and running at night. It's great and comfortable.

I have the spot and it has always been bright enough, no issues with hiking at night or doing some climbing in the dark. I prefer headlamps with the batteries and lamp in the same place, as they are more compact, lighter, and the wires don't get screwed up. The ones with the batteries in the back will eventually fail in my experience.

Read some stories of loose wiring problems with some old Myo XPs in the past, they probably have fixed the issue by now.

Got the Myo XP. Have had it for 3yr and i love it! A little akward when wearing with hood or helmet, but battery life is great.

I have both the spot and the myo xp. After I returned my first myo xp (stopped working all of a sudden), my current one has been going strong. nice headlamp, a little heavy. I've got the current BD spot - very nice, light and just as bright. I find it has a confusing number of options (red light, beam and disperse light) and I'm often stuck on the red light. Not a major problem, but a little annoying. The button is also a bit small for use with gloves. That said, I use it way more than my xp these days. In spite of it's little quirks, I think it's better than the xp.

I've had the MYO XP for about two years and it has always served me well. It's bright, lasts long, and never fails to work. It's got a 3 year warranty and is made in France whereas the BD stuff is Chinese made. Not to start a flame-war again, but that was important to me and I figured I'd mention it. Someone was saying it was awkward on a helmet, but it fits nicely on my BD Meteor when using the special attachment points.

I have loved my petzl headlamps, but gotta say- for the price point the Storm is off the hook bright. I always prefer it to my XP2 now, plus it was cheaper! 2 cents.

+4 on the storm. the thing is ridicuously bright, and will last quite some time before batteries need to be replaced. Ive noticed no weight issues with it. If you can find it on sale 15-20% off it will only cost about $35 bucks which is an asbolute steal. Plus its waterproof and has a light lock so it doesnt turn on in your pack and drain the battery. Also multiple different brightness settings.
