Car Camping: How comfortable can you make it?

Thinner or low profile crazysales air beds can be obtained without having the added base which means they can be slightly more, smaller and cheaper compact. This will make them suited to camping trips as they possibly easily be deflated, rolled up and packed away within the car or backpack. A sleeping pad is by far the best option for camping because they are even thinner so more lightweight and compact than a typical low profile air bed better yet. Are much more compact when it comes to packing away, though these are similar insize and usability, and price to a folding floor mattress.

The DIY version of the dreamtime is the best for car camping on a budget. Take a wide camping mattress, I used an old one from EMS's bargain bin. Buy a twin size memory foam topper from walmart, cut it in half. Put the foam on top of the camping pad. If you're really fancy, take an old sheet and sew it into a long pillowcase-like rectangle that you stuff the camping pad and memory foam into so they won't shift at night. Give the other half of the memory foam to your friend and they can have one too.

Best pad I've ever used in a normal sized tent, I use it for car camping at Miguel's in the RRG.

I have one of these for weekend car camping, super comfy, comes in one and two person versions. If you throw any pad in it it's even better. I use a 2" memory foam pad in the winter and have slept like a baby at -8 degrees.
