RNClimber, Not saying you don't have a big problem but .. it could always be worse:

[Edited by MP HQ. The linked photo below was originally shown inline. It is really gruesome. Click the link below if you want to see it.]

Can we get a NSFW tag in the title? And maybe a "gruesome picture" tag, too? I'd really prefer to not open graphic scrotum-rupture pictures in public places.

GOD DAMN, that was unexpected!

There really is no good reason for the original post. It is just a juvenile attempt to be shocking. The whole thread should be deleted.

I came, I saw, I cried. Make it go away, please, save the innocent eyes still out there.

Dude at the very least you could have put a link to the picture instead. What are you 14?

Hey folks take it easy on Daryl. He is a good guy. If you have a suggestion for making the OP less surprising/shocking just ask him.

Sorry, no offense to Daryl, but I call shenanigans. Haven't read squat in ANAM about testes getting pimento'd out of a scrotum.... and since a rescue was involved, I'd think it would have been written up. Again, no offense to DA, as perhaps he got the pic as a handmedown, I'm just questioning the origin of the picture+text.

I think it was a work-realted injury, as the unfortunate fellow was referred to as an employee.

My bad everyone, but I'm pretty sure the insults aren't required. Got your feelings hurt or whatever; got it... feel better? Let's move on. Besides, any lack of maturity might more readily be applied to your reaction to my post and associated insults. Thought we were all adults here and could discuss things like genitalia openly without being offended. That being said, I do apologize for the inline post and lack of warning.

Erik, I'm hoping you are right and thinking you probably are. It was posted on another climbing related site but no real information on the how/what/etc of the incident. Incidentally, I caught a friend in a lead fall that got one of his peaches stuck under the leg loop. He inverted after taking a mildly swinging lead fall, and in doing so yanked one of his testicles downward across his leg toward his knee. I've never heard a man make a noise like that, nor did i ever imagine one could. He curled into the fetal position and remained there as I gently lowered him to the ground. He was sore for days but made a full recovery. Nothing like what happened in the picture here.

For the above incident to have taken place, I'm thinking a pretty nasty fall and a very static line were part of the equation. Also, I got to thinking about it and Mark made a pretty strong point. The harness did its job but, due to misuse, caused injury. But, the one thing that strikes me as odd was the impression left on the area of injury. Seems like for an impression like that to be made, the person would have to be there, in that position, a very long time. Plus, how could that much focused pressure be applied to that area against not bone but a large mass of muscle tissue which is fairly soft.

I guess i'm really wanting this to be fake, deep down.

Here is the blog post with the photo in context of the posting.

I'm shocked, and also of the juvenile reaction it got from some.

I'm rechecking the adjustment on my harness now...

Harnesses > seat belts woven through metal buckles

I don't see (or wish I could un-see) how that could happen unless the harness was loose or poorly adjusted.

Going to dress my harness very neatly in the future after seeing this.

Harness is going to be extra tight around the legs next time so i don't pinch a nut or two.

I could of also done with out the image, a paragraph describing the carnage would of been better. Scared for life....Thanks!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
