Narrowed it down to these two ropes. HAve the sterling ice thongs and love them...still have and use my Mammut Galaxy stiff but no frays!!! Tough call. Anyone have personal experience with either that they would care to share? Pretty comperable threads it seems...
Thanks
Chris

Ahahahaaaa....thanks John, I ALWAYS have my partner carry the coil!! ;)

I really liked how the sterling felt and it seems to be getting some good reviews. I was not a fan of the company back in the mid-90's. We burned through a marathon 10.5 half way up half dome and that still sticks in the back of my head. That being said, the company was new and they have come a long way since the early years.

going with a 60M

If you are going to have one rope for everything (sport, trad, TR, ice, whatever), go with the velocity for sure. It's pretty unbeatable for a true all-arounder. I've used these a lot. Really solid rope.

If you have a beater rope you can use on high wear days, I'd go with the much lighter infinity. I'd also throw the sterling ion in the mix. Just retiring my ion 1 after 2 years of hard use. I have no doubt that sterling isn't lying when they say the new one is even more durable.

If you want an all arounder, go with the sterling. the infinity is more specialized, but if you have another rope to beat, it's a great choice. I have both and I love them. You really can't go wrong.
